Getting Our Hands Dirty for Climate Action

‍

Schweigen joins Greenfleet for a hands-on reforestation project at the Strzelecki Nature Link on Boonwurrung Country.

The initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to actively mitigate and offset our operational footprint through legally protected, high-integrity environmental projects.

Our team worked alongside Greenfleet’s forestry specialists to plant 2,800 native seedlings along a critical 3.5-kilometre wildlife corridor. Because this land is protected by a 100-year legal covenant, the project guarantees permanent habitat security for vulnerable native species - like koalas, parrots and gliders - alongside verified, long-term carbon sequestration.

We were privileged to begin the day with a Welcome to Country and traditional smoking ceremony led by Willie Pepper of the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council, grounding the project’s physical work in Indigenous land stewardship. The site itself was planted systematically to establish a resilient, multi-tier forest infrastructure of canopy, midstory, and understory layers, maximizing both biodiversity and carbon absorption.

For architects, specifiers, and construction professionals, choosing sustainable products is about reducing supply chain risk and meeting strict Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria.

Greenfleet provides the verifiable data required for institutional-grade compliance:

  • Audited Accountability: All offsets are calculated via CSIRO-verified models and audited annually by Pitcher Partners and a Federal Government-accredited auditor.
  • Protected Assets: A century-long legal covenant ensures that these forests cannot be cleared, turning upfront offset investments into lasting ecological assets.
  • Proven Track Record: With nearly 30 years of experience, Greenfleet has established over 580 biodiverse forests and planted more than 11.7 million native trees.
