Schweigen Design Takes Top Honours at the 2026 Good Design Awards
Australian innovation transforms the humble rangehood into an architectural masterpiece.

Australian-owned Schweigen has taken out the prestigious Best in Class honour at the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, winning the Product Design - Domestic Appliances category with its groundbreaking Schweigen Design rangehood collection.
Announced at the ICC Sydney on 9th October, the award recognises Schweigen's bold approach to reimagining kitchen ventilation - combining striking architectural design, innovative technology and the powerful, silent extraction that has become synonymous with the Schweigen brand.
Selected by an independent jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts, the Best in Class distinction places Schweigen Design among the standout achievements in this year's awards.
A New Era in Ventilation Design
Created for premium residential projects, Schweigen Design challenges the traditional perception of rangehoods as bulky appliances to be concealed.
Instead, the collection introduces sculptural forms, premium fingerprint-resistant finishes, touchless gesture control, adjustable lighting and powerful silent extraction - creating a statement piece that enhances both the aesthetics and functionality of contemporary kitchens.
For appliance retailers, kitchen designers, architects and commercial partners, Schweigen Design presents an exciting opportunity to offer customers something genuinely different: award-winning architectural design paired with powerful yet silent performance.
The Good Design Awards Jury praised the collection for "Transforming the rangehood from a purely functional appliance into a sculptural, design-led architectural feature that elevates contemporary kitchen spaces."
The Jury also recognised Schweigen's success in " ... challenging an appliance category that has traditionally lacked meaningful design innovation."
Australian Innovation Recognised on the World Stage
Schweigen Co-Owner Anthony Fletcher said the award was a proud achievement for the Australian-owned business.
"When we created Schweigen Design, our ambition wasn't simply to build another rangehood. We wanted to completely change how people think about kitchen ventilation. For too long, rangehoods have been treated as appliances to hide. We've turned that thinking on its head, creating architectural statement pieces that deliver the powerful, silent performance Schweigen is famous for. Winning Best in Class reinforces our belief that exceptional design and outstanding performance should never be a compromise.”
Design Without Compromise
Combining European craftsmanship with Australian innovation, Schweigen Design represents a new direction in premium kitchen ventilation.
With Schweigen Design, the rangehood is no longer something to hide. It is something to celebrate.
